New VIA Arlington Transit Fare Rates Begin Monday, March 2

Beginning Monday, March 2, VIA(Arlington's on‑demand public transportation service) will introduce updated fare options designed to make many trips more affordable and give riders more flexibility. These updates will affect UTA students, faculty, staff, and community members who use VIA for campus access and city travel.
What’s Changing
On‑Demand Ride Fares
Fares will now range from $3 to $8, depending on trip distance.
- Many shorter trips will cost less than before, making local rides more affordable.
Handitran Service
Handitran rides will be $3 per trip.
- One Personal Care Assistant (PCA) may continue to ride free.
New Ride Credits (Replacing Passes)
Starting Monday, VIA will shift from passes to Ride Credits, a more flexible option that never expires.
- Riders can load credit directly in the VIA app.
- Credits can be used for any VIA service.
Save With Ride Credit Bundles
Riders can now purchase discounted credit bundles. For example:
- Pay $65 and receive $90 in ride credit
Who Is Affected
These changes apply to all riders using:
- VIA Arlington On‑Demand
- Handitran service
- VIA’s mobile app for fare purchases
When This Takes Effect

What You Need to Do
- Download or open the Arlington Transportation app to purchase Ride Credits or credit bundles.
- Check updated fare totals when booking rides beginning Monday.
- If you use Handitran, continue to board as usual—your trip will now be a flat $3.
